Position Overview:
The Design Manager will lead the design and development of floor-based conveyor systems for parts handling and assembly/sub assembly of parts. This role involves overseeing the entire design process, from concept to final product, ensuring that all conveyor systems are tailored to client specifications and meet industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in mechanical design, with specific expertise in conveyor systems for assembly lines and parts handling, along with strong project management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead Design Projects: Manage the design and development of floor-based conveyor systems, ensuring that all designs meet customer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations.
• Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of design engineers, providing guidance and technical support to ensure high-quality outputs and timely project completion.
• Project Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and installation teams, to ensure seamless integration of conveyor designs into production processes.
• Client Interaction: Engage with clients to understand their needs, provide technical expertise, and present design concepts and solutions for both assembly line and parts handling conveyor systems.
• Design Optimization: Continuously improve conveyor designs by implementing the latest technologies, materials, and engineering practices to enhance efficiency, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, including CAD models, drawings, specifications, and project reports
• Compliance & Standards: Ensure that all designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations, including safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Problem-Solving: Address design challenges and issues that arise during the development and installation phases, providing innovative solutions to meet project goals.
• Budget Management: Manage the design budget, ensuring that projects are completed within financial constraints while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the design department, focusing on enhancing design processes, tools, and methodologies for both assembly line and parts handling conveyors.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in mechanical design, with at least
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Solidedge).
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Expertise in conveyor systems, specifically for parts handling and assembly.
• Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations related to conveyor system.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a design team, with strong organizational and project management skills.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
• Problem- solving: strong analytical and problem-solving abilities , with a focus on innovative and practical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in designing conveyors for specific industries, such as automotive, white goods, manufacturing, or logistics.
• Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies and processes, such as industry 4.0, robotics, and IoT integration.
